Part 2: VMWare vROPS 6.7 Replica Node Installation & HA configuration Steps

As we had installed master node in post 1 will cover configuring vROPS cluster HA and replica master node in this post.

  • Will add replicate node as Data node to Cluster.
  • Enable Cluster in vROPS by selecting node 2 as replica.

 Pre-requisites for this post

The only prerequisite for part 2 is to deploy appliance for replica node covered in part 1 ( link is below for part1) from steps 1 – steps 11. with DNS record in place for node2.

vRops Replication Node Configuration

First will add the second node as data node, Once successful will get option to enable HA and configure replica.

vRops Adding Replica Node to Cluster as Data node

Open https://fqdn or ip of second node in browser – Select Expand an Existing installation.

Next

Provide below information and accept certificate

  • Node Name: provide second node name: vrops-02.sslab.com
  • Node type: data (default)
  • master Node IP: provide the master node fqdn : vrops-01.sslab.com
  • Click validate – Select Accept the certificate and Next

Provide First node admin password – Next

Click Finish

This will try to add the second node to cluster. please give 10-15 mins.

Click on Finish Adding New Nodes and wait for 10-15 mins.

click ok

this will expand cluster by adding second node.

vRops enabling High Availability and Replica configuration

Close the second node admin console

Open https://firstnode-fqdn-or-IP/admin – Login admin & password given – Click on Enable under High availability

Select Node 2 name  – select enable high availability button below – Ok.

Select yes

It will take a while and will finish

as seen its configuring the HA for cluster nodes.

After a while it will bring Cluster Online and Enabled high availability as shown below with status as online for nodes.

Master and Master replica nodes are shown clearly.

 

With this we completed part 2 and move to part 3 of installing data nodes.
